Men's Jewish Jewelry, Engraved in Real Hebrew

Men's Jewish jewelry tends to arrive in two flavors: an enormous Star of David on a rope chain, or nothing. There's a lot of room in the middle. Most of what men actually wear is a heavy engravable piece with something meaningful hidden on it. A signet ring with Hebrew letters. A Miami Cuban ID bracelet with Shema on the back plate. Nobody sees it but him.

Everything here is engravable, handcrafted to order by The Honest Jeweler in solid 14k gold and 925 sterling silver.

What Hebrew do men usually put on these?

Shema Yisrael. Ein Od Milvado. Ani L'Dodi V'Dodi Li, when it's a wedding band or an anniversary gift. A son's Hebrew name. A father's. A date. We engrave real Hebrew letterforms, not a decorative font that renders the letters wrong, and we proof the script with you before anything gets cut. Bring us Hebrew quotes and we'll fit them to the plate.

Signet ring or ID bracelet?

A signet ring is the older idea. Flat face, polished or satin, and you can inscribe the top or the inside. It reads formal and it lasts a lifetime. A Miami Cuban ID chain bracelet reads modern and gets worn with a t-shirt. Ours run 7mm to 9.5mm in solid 14k gold, polished or pave, with an engravable center plate. See the full signet ring line or the engraved bracelets if you want to compare.

Do you make Star of David and chai pieces for men?

We make a Star of David pendant and a small number of symbol pieces. What we won't do is pretend to a deep men's Judaica catalog we don't have, or tell you it's crafted in Israel with Eilat stone. It isn't. The strength of this collection is the engraving: any of these men's pieces can carry a Hebrew phrase, a Hebrew name, or a symbol of faith that means something specific to the man wearing it.

How heavy should a men's chain or bracelet be?

Heavier than you think, and then one size heavier. A 7mm Miami Cuban curb sits lightly. An 8.5mm has real presence on the wrist. A 9.5mm is a statement and weighs like one, in solid gold, at a price that reflects the gold. Try the middle first. Men who start at 7mm usually come back for the 8.5mm.

Is this good for a bar mitzvah gift?

Very. A 13-year-old given an engravable sterling silver ID bracelet with his Hebrew name inside will still have it at thirty. Our bar mitzvah collection narrows it further. Order early, because Hebrew engraving needs proofing time and the date does not move.

Gold or sterling silver for men?

Solid 14k gold if it's a milestone piece meant to outlive you. 925 sterling silver if he's young, hard on his things, or simply prefers the cooler tone. Both are solid metal. We don't plate brass and call it gold, which is a sentence more jewelers should be able to write.

Can I wear a Star of David and a spinner ring together?

People do. Our men's spinner rings carry Hebrew phrases on a band that spins, which turns out to be a quietly useful thing to have on your hand during a long meeting or a long Shacharit.
